Silesian Homebrew Competition
The Silesian Homebrew Competition is the spiritual heir of the International Homebrew Competition in Chorzów. On the one hand, it refers to the historic competition organised in Katowice in 2011–2015 by Adam Wróbel, the popular “Pieron”. On the other hand, it aims to raise its profile and emphasise its standing across the whole voivodeship. It has long been known that the best brewers in Poland brew in Silesia. We believe this will be an extra motivation for brewers from all over Poland to compete with Silesian brewers for the title of Silesia Bier Majster. The Silesian competition keeps the numbering of the International Competition in Chorzów.

CTT EMAG – a brand recognised in many countries
The business activity of Centrum Transferu Technologii EMAG Sp. z o.o. in Katowice is directed primarily at the broadly understood transfer of technological solutions developed at the company and at scientific units to commercial customers, together with implementing various solutions in business practice. In recent years the company has also actively participated as a consortium member, most often an industrial one, in research and development projects partly financed from public funds. The company’s success is built, on the one hand, on the reputation of the products it launches, the trust of customers and partners and a strong production and technology base, and on the other hand on high operational flexibility, optimised customer service processes and the commitment of its employees.
Cooperation within various consortia enables the company to comprehensively meet the expectations of business partners not only in Poland but also abroad. For several years, revenue from foreign markets has exceeded 50%, and products bearing our logo work on every continent. We have built a brand recognised in many countries where natural resources are mined. Centrum Transferu Technologii EMAG Sp. z o.o. often undertakes the implementation of completely new solutions (so-called first implementations) in industrial and public facilities.

Made in Poland 2021
Centrum Transferu Technologii EMAG Sp. z o.o. has received the Made in Poland 2021 award. It is one of those companies Poland can be proud of. The Centre’s unconventional approach to combining business with science is highly valued around the world, and especially in eastern markets.
The company’s successes are discussed by Anna Kubańska, MSc Eng., President of the Management Board.
In early July you received the Made in Poland 2021 award in Berlin. What does this distinction mean to you?
I am extremely pleased that we have been honoured with the Made in Poland title. We are proud to be able to present Polish scientific thought all over the world. The award recognises our efforts and the ideas we implement in our daily work. It reflects the hard work of the whole team. I am proud that our commitment to developing occupational safety systems, especially geophysics and mineral quality control systems, is so useful to many countries. I am all the more pleased to have received such a prestigious title, which shows that Polish scientific and technological thought is useful and needed in many places.
What exactly does CTT Emag focus on?
We were founded more than 10 years ago and from the very beginning we have focused on transferring scientific and technological solutions to business and to practical use in the economy. Our main areas are electronics, automation, hydraulics, geophysics and mineral quality control used in mining in the broad sense. Our activity is comprehensive and tailored to the customer’s needs — from developing systems and equipment, through manufacturing devices, to, of course, servicing the equipment in operation.
What makes your services stand out?
Unique, innovative solutions 100% tailored to the customer. That is one of the most important aspects of their appeal. I must add that the approach to a partner — not only a business one, but also cultural and social — is extremely important. The Chinese market showed this in particular: there, negotiations always begin with a shared meal and getting to know each other, and only then do you talk business. Our company has achieved great success in this respect. Thanks to mutual respect, especially as people and not just as a figure on a chart, we manage to win partners all over the world. Our solutions are appreciated in countries such as the aforementioned China, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Russia, Vietnam, France and even Colombia. To sum up: looking for international partners and the travel involved is not only about gaining partners, but about finding friends. Without getting to know their culture, accepting it and respecting it, there is no chance of effective cooperation.
In your opinion, the key to success is…?
The most important thing is a committed and qualified team with a friendly atmosphere. We build on mutual trust and respect, because without them everything else stands on weak foundations and may collapse when put to the test. Experience backed by knowledge and a flair for action are also very important. You could say we work on the principle that success is not a destination but a journey. We must stay attentive and constantly strive for excellence.
Did the COVID-19 pandemic strongly affect your business?
Looking back, I have to say it did not. We reacted appropriately and quite quickly to the situation that arose after the outbreak of the epidemic. Change is the only constant, and it can take us by surprise, which is why the team I mentioned is so important. Instead of panicking, we got to work and quickly adapted to the new reality. I must admit, though, that we miss meetings. Video conferences are of course useful, but they will never replace solid relationship-building. We have found our way in the new reality, but deep down we hope for a quick return to traditional ways of working with potential and long-standing partners.
